I still remember that day. It's in my nightmares, my fears, and sometimes I just can't stop thinking about it. I remember it so clearly, like how I'd remember something that just happened, even though it happened a month ago. I haven't gotten over it. I don't know if I ever will.

We were sitting so close on the park bench and whispered sweet nothings to each other. Her beautiful mocha colored hair flowing in the breeze, her fragile and pale face in my hands, her deep sea colored eyes staring back at me, the trees' leaves flying all around us. It was perfect, the setting, the weather, everything. I had everything planned and everything was working out perfectly.

"I heard if you catch a falling leaf, it'll grant you a wish," She said as she stood up.

"Then," I reached my hand out and grabbed a falling leaf. "I hope it grants mine."

She laughed in such a sweet and tender way, "What'd you wish for?"

I got up and started walking away, "Can't tell you otherwise it won't come true."

"Aw," I could hear the joy in her voice. "Maybe I'll find out if it comes true one day."

"I wonder if that day's today," I stuck my hand in my pocket, checking to see if the box inside was still there.

"Oh?" I heard her footsteps grow closer when I stopped moving.

"You know, I've been meaning to ask you something. I mean, we've been dating for a while now and..." I was about to pull the box out from my pocket as I turned to face her. "Mia!"

She was kneeling on the ground, holding her chest. Her breathing was ragged and her cough was even worse and more constant than usual. I could see her face was more blue than before. I quickly rushed to her side and held her close.

"I..." She tried to talk in between coughs. "Can't... Breathe..."

"Your inhaler, where is it?" I asked, panic filling my body.

"H-Home..." Her voice was even more strained.

My heart started racing, "That's miles from here..."

I fumbled in my pocket, only to find the box, but not my phone. That was at home, too. I checked the jacket of her coat, hoping to find her phone, but it was empty.

"Hang in there, alright?" I tried to calm her down by gently rubbing her back. "Just calm down and it'll be okay, right?"

I glanced around to see if anyone was around, but nothing. Everyone was at work or school at this hour. Nobody was close enough to hear if I even tried to call out. Her coughing and wheezing grew worse.

"Mia, please, Mia, stay with me," I held her closer as if that'd help pull her back to me.

Suddenly, I felt her limp body hit mine and tears roll down my cheeks.

I stand above her grave with flowers in my hand. They are roses, her favorite. A ring is around one of the flowers. I kiss them, gently, before placing them on her grave and walking away.

"Good-bye, Mia."
This is the one-shot My Dearest! Ah, I based this off one of my greatest fears. I based the symptoms off my own. Mia did die of Asthma. I know it seems fast that she died, but there wasn't much else to put. There are probably more errors, but I did my best. This is very important to me so... I hope you like it!

The storyline and characters belong to me.

I was confused about what brought on the asthma attack, generally there's some kind of irritant. Perhaps you could detail about that?

This is heart-breakingly sad and I'm not sure it needs much more.
